Dwell

We all have a box that’s ours
Cardboard, hotel room, apartment, house, or car
Four walls that we call home
Some last for minutes some all we have known
A space that belongs to us
Shaded in with personality and it’s glorious
Taking possession of desolation
Just to remix and remake it in our own nation
And then all at once it’s gone
Replaced by a new place and suddenly we long
A return to an old empire
Old memories replay and burn jealous fire
Four walls become possession
A location that becomes our life expression
And then one day you leave
A new box, new expression, and new me
The memories go with you
The old box is given to someone new
I pray each space I dwelled
Is, for you, a peaceful home, unparalleled
