If I see a picture frame off center
I will stop and correct it
Hoodie strings that aren’t even bother me
I’ve thrown away sweatshirts for it
Puzzles with missing pieces should be illegal
Burned at the stake for it
Things off center, not matching, poor alignment
Patterns that don’t match, zigzag lines, uneven floor tiles
Clapping off beat, notes sung off key
They all irritate me
I will dispense endless energy to correct them
Angry rants, rude behavior, emails to corporate headquarters send

But when my soul is incomplete
When it’s healing I need
I don’t raise my hands or rouse my feet
I ignore it
Claiming it adds “character”
Cycling every flaw like this on repeat
I’ll fix the world but leave myself
