Do you remember how to sit still?
Not sitting watching TV
Or scrolling on your phone
Sitting. In a chair. At ease.
Your shoulders relaxed
Your neck sitting up
Arms at rest hands empty
Not a sound or screen to disrupt
It’s unnerving isn’t it?
You feel impatient, bored even
Nothing to entertain you
Just alone as you breathe in
In my accusation
A realization
Do I remember how to sit still?
The echo of what’s missing ringing
My hands long for engagement
Have I lost the art of just being
At rest; my mind not seeking answers
No videos, sounds, or electric chaos
Suddenly hostage by silence without ransom
Tormented
I open my phone
Relief soon follows
